How are China, Russia, and the US using artificial intelligence (AI) to enable their respective nuclear operations? What risks and opportunities might these developments present in future crises or conflicts? Please join us for a virtual seminar discussion on artificial intelligence and its effect on the future of nuclear operations, featuring introductory remarks by Assistant Secretary of State Mallory Stewart and panelists Dr. Paul Scharre and Dr. Tim McDonnell. Dr. McDonnell is a co-author of a forthcoming CNA publication sponsored by the State Department’s Bureau of Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance that addresses the future of AI and nuclear risk. Dr. Scharre is an award-winning author, former Defense Department official, and widely recognized authority on the military applications of AI. After remarks and discussion by the panel, this event will conclude with audience Q&A.

Format & Registration

This event is open to the public, but registration is required. The event will occur on Zoom for Government, but those with access to any version of Zoom will be able to join the webinar with the link that will be provided or dial in for audio-only if preferred. The event will be recorded, so even if you are unable to attend, please register so that we can send you a link when the video posts to the NSS webpage and our YouTube channel playlist.
