Sen Cryan

Sen. Joseph Cryan

Joseph Cryan was elected to the New Jersey Senate representing Legislative District 20 in 2017. Cryan represented District 20 from 2001 to 2015 in the state's General Assembly and was elected Sheriff of Union County in 2014. During his time in the Assembly, he served as the Majority Leader and chaired or served on over a dozen committees, as well as holding the role of Chair for the New Jersey Democratic State Committee from 2006-2010.

Cryan was also the first General Chairman of the Union County Saint Patrick’s Day Parade committee and is the standard bearer of the Cryan Association, an Irish-American charitable civic organization. He resides in Union Township with his wife, Kathy, and currently serves as the Executive Director for the Middlesex County Utilities Authority.

There is no better way to meet with your legislators, network with your colleagues, and learn about issues affecting your business than to attend your local ELC meetings.

The ELCs, established by NJBIA in 1959, are independent, local organizations representing all 21 counties. Union County ELC meets monthly for breakfast. These meetings take no longer than 90 minutes. At each meeting, legislators, cabinet members or local officials will discuss important issues pertinent to business. You will also receive a briefing from one of NJBIA's government affairs experts on legislative and regulatory issues affecting employers.

Take advantage of this opportunity to tell your legislators and other decision makers, such as the Governor, cabinet members and legislative leaders, how their decisions impact your business.
