Come join the SAME Rock Island Post meeting on Thursday, May 18th at 11:45am. This meeting will be held as a hybrid option to attend in-person or virutally! 

Presentation: The ARMOR1 project to modernize mat sinking operations on the Mississippi River requires a partnership approach between government and industry. Unity of effort facilitates the development of state of the art robotic solutions to complex operations that increase production, improve safety and reduce costs. By leveraging innovative contracting authorities, the ARMOR1 team benefits from a collective approach to SOW development, iterative design methodology, and prototype production while reducing project risk.

Speaker: Jon Vernau, Mr. Vernau is a retired U.S. Army officer with more than 25 years of active duty and civilian experience with government civilian and military clients providing program management, operational planning and strategic analysis. He is a proven contributor to enterprise-wide success through expertise in policy and strategy development, operations excellence and continuous improvement. Mr. Vernau leads the Advanced Technologies & Robotics Business Line at SIA Solutions, a subsidiary of Salas O'Brien, an ENR top 500 MEP firm. He manages all efforts related to Automation, Robotics, Engineering Strategies, and Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT) applications in DOD and industrial manufacturing facilities. His responsibilities include research and development program management, project origination and execution, resourcing, and financial performance of the business line. Previously, Jon led and executed Air Force and Army Public-Private and Public-Public Partnerships (P3/P4) programs focused on mission readiness, sustainability, and community engagement. During his time on active duty, he had extensive experience engaging senior domestic and foreign government officials, representing the United States government in bilateral and multilateral negotiations, and developing and implementing international security agreements. He led discussions involving the National Security Council, Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, Department of State, the intelligence community, and other agencies.
