The DDA regional nurses invite the DDA nurses (RN CM/DNs) for a statewide nurse meeting and training on July 11, 2023, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. This presentation will be facilitated by Joyce Chen, DNP, PMHNP-BC, PHN. She is the Mid-Atlantic Clinical Practice Liaison for Neurocrine Biosciences and a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. Ms. Chen has a wide range of clinical experience in mental health, including field services for the homeless and severely mentally ill, private practice, management and education. 

This training is an opportunity for nurses to review drug-induced movement disorders, including  tardive dyskinesia, dystonia, akathisia and drug-induced parkinsonism. 

Training Objectives:  

  • Overview of drug-induced movement disorders 
  • Identification of onset of drug-induced movement disorders 
  • Identification of symptoms of drug-induced movement disorders 
  • Timeline of drug-induced movement disorders 
  • Presentation of available treatment options for drug-induced movement disorders 
  • Presentation of AIMS assessment and how to utilize it

For DDA RN CM DNs: This training counts for attendance to one of the two required trainings  for the fiscal year. You must be online during the training for at least one hour to qualify for  attendance purposes.
