Center for Youth Power Three-Part Workshop

Attend this free three-part Workshop! Build knowledge, strengths, and skills to help you have critical conversations about the root causes of violence and how to shift harmful norms in your communities to prevent sexual violence from ever happening again. Saturday's September 2nd, 9th, and 16th 10am-3pm each day

During this FREE 3-day interactive workshop, participants will:

  • Build knowledge about the root cause of sexual violence

  • Develop skills for successfully having challenging conversations about oppression and harmful norms within their peer groups,

  • Participate in interactive peer-led, youth-developed projects that address the root causes of sexual violence

What is YouthPower?

YouthPower is a lit & iconic force, led by BIPOC, LGBTQ2IA+, and other influential young people, ages 14-18. They're all about crushing oppression at its core, especially when it comes to shutting down sexual violence. This force is determined to take down toxic beliefs, behaviors, policies, and practices and create a community free of sexual violence.

Who can join?

Any young people aged 14-18 years old who are passionate about creating social change and communities free of sexual violence and oppression that live in the Portland Metropolitan Area. Space is limited, so grab your spot early! We strongly encourage youth who have lived experiences of oppression, identify with historically oppressed communities, and/or have been directly or indirectly impacted by sexual violence to register for this workshop

Why is YouthPower important?

Young people, especially young people from historically marginalized communities, are disappropriately impacted by sexual violence than any other age group. Young people are at the center of social change and are key to creating long-lasting social change and shifting harmful social norms in their communities.

Picture this: a world where sexual violence is obliterated for good. We're talking about a future where you, the young and fierce, are the true leaders. We want a society that celebrates your voices, experiences, identities, and contributions, no matter who you are. Together, we are going to extinguish oppressive systems, dismantle messed-up norms, and create a world where consent, respect, and healthy relationships are epic!

The Center for Youth Power is gonna create a world where THE YOUTH hold the power to end sexual violence. It's gonna be a world where everyone is respected, where social norms promote equality, justice, and belonging.
