Core Functional Testing and Training

Virtual attendance = Live credit!

Our "core"--It is a biomechanical segment for stabilization yet its mobility is vital to function. Consider the numerous approaches of PNF, Pilates, yoga, Feldenkrais, movement impairment systems, martial arts, and virtually any contact sport; "core" training is an integral piece. Therapeutic activities and neuromuscular re-education are key components of physical therapy and occupational therapy when addressing the "core" so in this new half day virtual workshop, a very practical, patient oriented model will emphasize "core" interventions for optimal trunk and spine function based on functional testing.

By the completion of this workshop you will be able to correctly:

  1. Perform and grade functional strength tests for "core" stabilization.
  2. Identify at least one purpose, cue, and progression for exercise/activity/movement interventions performed during virtual lab sessions.
  3. Incorporate simple biofeedback techniques to enhance neuromuscular re-education.
  4. Describe how optimal postural alignment, breathing, and extremities are facilitators.

Instruction level: Basic
4.0 CE contact hours (IL)
