This 2023 Wylder Lecture Series will have the privilege to host the AAP President Elect, Dr. Benjamin Hoffman as well as the newly apointed AAP Chief Health Equity Officer, Dr. Joseph Wright. You don't want to miss this opportunity to hear their presentations!

Course Description:

The 2023 Wylder Lecture Series combines lectures, case presentations and question and answer time for informal inter-action with guest lecturers and peers in a one day conference.  The course will provide 8 in-person and 3 online lectures.

Dr. Benjamin Hoffman MD, CPST-I, FAAP 2023 President-Elect of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Professor of Pediatrics at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital  Vice-Chair for Community Health and Advocacy, Director of the Oregon Center for Children and Youth with Special Heath Needs, and Director of the Child Injury Prevention Program.

 Joseph L. Wright, MD, MPH Chief Health Equity Officer and Senior Vice President for Equity Initiatives of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). He most recently served as inaugural Chief Health Equity Officer of the University of Maryland Medical System

 The Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is accredited by the Arizona Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

 

Credits :

The Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics designates this blended educational activity for a maximum of 11.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit  commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. 

 

Location and Hotel Accommodations:

This conference will be held at the Explora Science Center and Children’s Museum in Albuquerque, NM - an interactive, child friendly science museum. Families are welcome to explore the museum while attendees are at the lectures.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for attendees at the conference, catered by The Grove.

There are a number of hotels close by for attendees who plan to arrive the night before, or intend to stay for the weekend. Attendees are responsible for their own lodging arrangements.

Areas of interest close by – Old Town, Sawmill Food Hall, The Natural History Museum, The Albuquerque Museum.

Registration Information: Your registration fee includes continental breakfast, refreshment breaks and lunch on Saturday.  

Cancellation: If you pre-register and cannot attend, NMPS will refund tuition, less a $40.00 administrative fee, provided it is received in writing on or before Sept 10, 2023. No refunds will be issued after this date or for non-attendance. Conferences are subject to cancellation. In the event this conference is cancelled, NMPS is not responsible for any airfare, hotel or other costs incurred by participants.

Poster Submission: Please consider submitting a poster to showcase your work in clinical research, bench research, education or quality improvement that is intended to improve the care of pediatric patients.

This is open to pediatric or family practice residents, fellows, students, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses to submit abstracts for Saturday’s poster session.

Registration and attendance of the conference is encouraged but is not required to submit a poster. One of the authors of the poster must be present in person at the poster session in order to be eligible for submission.  Poster session awards will be presented during the lunch break.  A 2 min verbal presentation will be requested from all award winners.

Deadline will be Midnight on Sept 14, 2023.  The poster must submitted electronically, but will need to be printed out and presented in hard copy – either 36 inches x 48 inches or 48 inches x 60 inches. Presenter must provide painters tape to hang poster.

Please send all poster submission in a ppt format to asubbaswamy@salud.unm.edu.  You will be notified by email if your poster is accepted for presentation.  If accepted, an in person presenter will be required.  Lunch time poster viewing and awards will be between 12:20 - 1:10 pm
