Phrasal Verbs

Phrasal verbs are two or more words that, when combined, act as completely new verbs with a meaning separate from the original words. For example, pick up means to grab or lift, which differs greatly from the definitions of pick and up alone.

In ASL, like spoken language, phrasal verbs can be confusing because their definitions aren't always easy to guess—and there are thousands of them.

In this webinar, we will discuss the "phrasal verb." We will also learn some of ASL's more commonly used phrasal verbs, identify the ASL sign used, and explore their correct context for clarity in conversational and descriptive ASL.
