North Chickamauga Creek State Natural Area
This course is an elective and counts for 4 credits toward the completion of the Certificate in Native Plants program.
The course will explore in depth the ecology, late summer wildflowers, and temperate deciduous forest of the North Chickamauga Creek State Natural Area with Dr. Richard Clements. Topics will include local geology, the forest system, plant interactions, wildflower life histories, and plant identification.
Participants will be required to make a ½ mile trek along a moderate trail and then back out again with two short side trips.
Items to bring: Water, snacks, a hand lens or scope, wildflower books, notepad. Please make sure to dress appropriate for the weather of the day. There are no facilities at this venue, so you will need to take care of any needs at the Circle K nearby.

He holds a B.S. in Biology from Tennessee Technological University, a M.S. in Plant Taxonomy from the University of Tennessee, and a Ph.D. in Plant Ecology from the University of Kentucky.
