Joseph D. Growney and Justin W. Whitney, both experienced estate planning and transactional attorneys with Lathrop GPM LLP, will employ a case study approach to examine estate planning and charitable gift planning strategies for clients with retirement assets and closely held businesses.

Their presentation will be of special interest to financial advisors who are often the first professional consulted to address these needs.

  • Liquidity event planning for closely held business owners, including presale charitable gifts of business interests

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Joseph Growney concentrates his practice in all areas of estate planning, including the preparation of basic and complex estate planning documents, and the implementation of sophisticated planning techniques. He also assists high net worth individuals and closely-held businesses with business succession planning and tax planning, including the formation of corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies, and structuring of corporate reorganizations and recapitalizations.

Joseph’s estate planning practice also includes life insurance planning, charitable planning and estate planning with retirement benefits.


Justin Whitney
focuses his practice on estate planning, probate and trust administration, trust and estate litigation, tax planning, and drafting of trusts, wills and corporate documents. Justin prepares basic and complex estate planning documents and implements sophisticated planning techniques on behalf of his clients. He also assists high net worth individuals and closely-held businesses with business succession planning and tax planning, including the formation of corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies, and structuring of corporate reorganizations and recapitalizations.

In addition to practicing law, Justin is licensed by the State of Kansas as a Certified Public Accountant. During law school, he completed an internship with the Hon. Julie Robinson at the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas.
