Are you struggling with your kid’s homework yet? Did it cause conflict last year and you’d like a more effective approach so there is less stress and more cooperation and completion this year?

If so, then attend my class, Homework Horrors! Learn the #1 Key to Create More Harmony around Homework.

September 20 at  12:00 pm PT/ 3 pm ET, This bonus class is primarily for parents of 9 to 15-year-olds.

Here are some common reasons why homework becomes a big challenge for your kids.

  1. It’s too easy.

  2. It’s too hard.

  3. It takes too much time.

  4. Just the thought of it by both of you causes dread.

  5. They don’t enjoy it.

  6. They don’t learn anything from it.

  7. They’ve been in school all day and they need a break.

  8. They’d much rather play.

You’re put in the position of being the Homework Monitor. You have enough things to make your kids do already. Why does this stress have to fall on your shoulders?

If you can’t make them do homework, then you are judged as a “poor parent”. Many parents I’ve coached have become so discouraged and frustrated with their kids that their relationship is damaged. The kids end up being so angry with their parent’s lack of skilled  “homework help”, that they don’t want to help their parents with anything around the house.

This is a vicious cycle.

As part of this class, we’ll explore research about the impact of homework on the family as presented in Alfie Kohn’s book The Homework Myth - Why our kids get too much of a bad thing.

You’ll understand the impact and realize that you are not alone in this challenge. You’ll learn 3 approaches to homework and pick the one that best suits your child’s homework struggle.

Finally, you’ll learn the #1 key to becoming an effective homework coach with your kids.  The unique strategy you’ll learn will feel respectful for everyone and creates greater connection and cooperation. It’s time to stop making your kids do homework and instead learn how to work with them effectively and joyfully!

How do you respond now when your child says:

  • “I’m not going to do homework!”

  • “I can’t do this. It’s too hard.”

  • “Homework is stupid. You can’t make me do it!”

Do you say:

  • “You need to be responsible and do your homework."
  • “You can do it if you tried harder.”
  • “Homework isn’t stupid. Your teacher wants you to do it.”

If how you are responding now is leading to more conflict that’s because you haven’t learned how to guide them rather than trying to control them. Commanding, bribes, and threats don’t make kids do homework. In fact, it makes them hate it even more!

So, if you want greater harmony rather than horror around homework, join me on September 20th at 12 pm PT / 3 pm ET so this school year will be more joyful and you’ll have happier times together.
