STOPS to Violence is a province wide Network that promotes healthy relationships and strong, safe, violence free communities.  Our vision is a healthy, vibrant Saskatchewan where all people are valued equally and live free from violence and abuse. We are looking for passionate people to play an active role in stewarding the STOPS to Violence Network by becoming a member of our Leadership Team

What does the Leadership Team do?

The Leadership Team serves the function of the Board of Directors for the STOPS to Violence Network.  Responsibilities of the Leadership Team include:

  • Actively supporting and nurturing the Network ecosystem through a consent-based governance approach Support and facilitating effective and appropriate Network governance processes and structures.
  • Guiding and directing the cultivation of learning, approaches and practices that nurture a culture of reconciliation, inclusion, equity and anti-oppression
  • Overseeing the development of Network strategy and progress toward goals identified by the STOPS Network.
  • Modelling transformational leadership by actively supporting the work of the STOPS to Violence Network
  • Supporting the growth of the STOPS to Violence Network by facilitating trust based, strategic working relationships with a broad range of community groups, all levels of government, First and Métis communities and other sectors to work toward shared purpose and common objectives.
  • Overseeing financial, human resource and legal management on behalf of the Network.

Time Investment

  • 4-6 meetings per year (virtual and in person)
  • Active weekly presence on the Network Hub, our virtual collaboration space

What is required to be on the Leadership Team?

To be a member of the STOPS to Violence Leadership Team, you must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older;
  • Submit a satisfactory criminal record check prior to starting your term.
We’re looking for people who have:
  • The ability and experience to oversee governance, financial and operational aspects of the Network, provide support, direction and input to the Executive Director.
  • A strong ability to build and nurture constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of mutual respect, cooperation and empathy.
  • Understanding of and ability to practice healing centred, anti-oppressive and social justice frameworks and an ability to communicate those effectively.
  • Understanding of and ability to work from Indigenous world views and a high level of commitment to decolonization and reconciliation.
  • Experience with working with Network governance, consent-based decision making and collaborative practices.
  • Alignment and commitment to the STOPS to Violence vision, mission, values, principles and ways of working.
  • Passion for and experience with innovation, collaboration and social change.

How does the process work? 

  • The first step is to submit your indication of interest.  Our deadline for submitting indications of interest is September 15, 2023
  • You will be contacted Tracy from STOPS to Violence who will provide more information about STOPS, the role of the Leadership Team and the required commitments of a Leadership Team Member. 
  • If there are more candidates than vacancies, an election will be held electronically before the Annual General Meeting. 
  • The successful candidates will be announced at the Annual General Meeting on September 27, 2022. Leadership Team member terms will begin October 1, 2023. First steps are a welcome and orientation and setting meeting schedules.
  • If you are elected to the Leadership Team, you will need to provide a satisfactory criminal record check by November 30, 2023.
