PPAL's September Statewide Meeting

Domestic Violence Through a Suicide Awareness Lens
with Shaquera Robinson, MPH

This meeting is for parents, caregivers, family members, family partners, and peer leaders with experience supporting children with emotional, behavioral, or mental health needs. Young adults and recovery coaches also welcome!

Join Us!

How is domestic violence interrelated with mental health and suicide awareness?

Shaquera will help us understand domestic violence and all of its multifaceted layers. We will explore structural racial inequities in domestic violence highlighting the black/brown  mental health communities.

Shaquera will discuss the Five Stages of Grief including how to identify them, and best practices to meeting people where they are at.

Shaquera Robinson is a mother of three. She graduated Suma Cum Laude from Rasmussen University, class of ’21, with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a focus on Management and Leadership. Shaquera has since returned to Rasmussen University where she recently achieved her Master’s Degree in Public Health (March 18, 2023).

Activism and advocacy for victims and survivors of domestic violence (DV) are two of the many hats worn by Robinson. Known for her optimism and charisma, friends would say that despite her lived experiences with sexual assault (SA) and DV, she is a beacon of hope and positivity to those surviving these traumatic events. These lived experiences qualify her as an expert in the domestic violence pandemic that plagues communities across all sectors.

Shaquera serves as an active member on the Massachusetts Protected at Work Coalition, an act relative to employment protections for victims of abusive behaviors and The Child Support Choice Coalition, an act to further family-centered child support. Shaquera sits on the steering committee for the Lower Roxbury Coalition Wellness Initiative, where she collaborates with the director and other community partners to foster wrap-around services for the well-being of families and children. Shaquera recently added the role of a Community Engagement Specialist for the Massachusetts Community Engagement Alliance also known as MA-CEAL at Boston Medical Center.

As an activist, Shaquera Robinson has answered the call to disrupt the cycles of domestic abuse through Shaquera’s Story Domestic Violence Consulting & Coaching.

Parent/Professional Advocacy League (PPAL) is a statewide family-run organization dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of children, youth and families through education, advocacy and partnership.
