Women Managing Swine is a multi-session workshop series designed for women who work in the swine industry or are interested in learning more about swine production.

Topics to be covered: Overview of swine production in Iowa, swine nutrition, health and safety around swine production, ventilation and building maintenance, manure management and more!

    • Quick overview of swine production, Biosecurity (with trailer), Health and Safety (animals and caretakers) 
  • Session 2: Nov. 13 @ Brenneman Pork
    • General swine production and nutrition
  • Session 3: Nov. 20 @ the Southeast Iowa Research and Demonstration Farm
    • Ventilation (trailer) and Manure (include comments on the agronomy side, value, MMP, pumping, soil temps)
  • Session 4: Nov. 27 @ Washington County Extension Office
    • Building maintenance, ROI on new building, legal aspects (siting a new building, smell, contracts)
