BRIDGE-BREAKING COMPETITIONS

UMaine ASCE Student Chapter will again host the Bridge Breaking Competition at the 72nd Maine Transportation Conference. Challenge your co-workers, consultants, contractors and students! Show off your engineering & construction skills! 

The kits will be mailed upon request, but no later than November 14th, so bridges can be painstakingly designed and built in advance. Bridges will first be weighed and then tested to failure in a test frame.The most efficient (strength-to-weight ratio) bridge will win! Prizes will be awarded for First- and Second-Place bridges and for the Top Student Bridge. NEW THIS YEAR! Accelerated Bridge Breaking Competition - teams of 4 will have 30 minutes to build their bridge. Hosted by Maine Section-ASCE and WTS-Maine Chapter.

ACCOMMODATIONS

A block of rooms has been reserved at the Best Western Plus Augusta Civic Center (110 Community Drive) at a conference rate of $114 plus tax per night for arrival on Wednesday, December 6 and departure on Thursday, December 7 or Friday, December 8.
