CAST REGISTRATION FOR ROCK OF AGES: TEEN EDITION

The GJHP Musical returns with ROCK OF AGES: TEEN EDITION directed and choreographed by Samara Harand. This no-cut program is open to all Glencoe 6th-8th graders! EVERYONE who registers and auditions will be cast! This is one of the largest productions in the area with a professional team, large set, awesome lights & sound, and live band!

The registration fee is $700 (plus online fees) and includes participation in rehearsals and performances PLUS: 

  • cast welcome party
  • dinner at dress rehearsals
  • costumes (except basic items)
  • official show t-shirt
  • ticket to In the Heights at The Marriott Theatre
  • ticket to Footloose at New Trier High School

Don't miss your chance to ROCK when GJHP presents Rock of Ages: Teen Edition! The long-running Broadway hit that was nominated for 5 Tony Awards (including Best Musical!), has been made appropriate for schools by iTheatrics (the team behind Broadway Junior). But this teen version is still a full-length, 2-act show and features ALL the same awesome songs as the original like “Don’t Stop Believin,” “Hit Me With Your Best Shot,” “Here I Go Again,” and more. These unforgettable hits have been adjusted for teen voices and larger casts (more pop-rock / Glee-style, not screaming) and some subject matter has been changed to suit family audiences. And it still ROCKS! Rock of Ages celebrates and pokes fun at the 1980s, Broadway musicals & theater tropes. It’s a hilarious, fast-moving show that is silly, full of heart, and jam packed with over 20 amazing songs & dances. With tons of featured roles and exhilarating ensemble numbers, Rock of Ages: Teen Edition is a blast to perform and even more fun to watch!

IMPORTANT DATES & ATTENDANCE INFORMATION

  • Audition Workshop: Wednesday, December 6, 3:30pm-5:30pm (recommended)
  • Auditions: December 11 or 12, 3:30pm-5pm OR 4:30pm-6pm
  • Callbacks: December 13 & 14, 3:30pm-7pm
  • The Cast List will be posted online Friday, December 22 at 5pm
  • First Rehearsal: Monday, January 8, 3:30pm-7pm
  • Parent Meeting: Wednesday, January 10 at 7pm
  • Rehearsals: Mondays, Wednesdays & Thursdays, 3:30pm-5:45pm (later in April)
  • Weekend Rehearsals: April 6, 13 & 14, 10am-5pm
  • Final Dress/Tech Rehearsals: April 15-17, 3:30pm-8pm
  • Performances: April 18-21 (Thurs & Fri at 7pm, Sat & Sun at 3pm - Call 2 hours earlier)
  • Note about Attendance & Absences: A full schedule will be distributed January 8. Cast members may not be called every day or for the entire time! We will try to work around ONE approved, standing conflict per week (must be noted on the Conflict Sheet turned in at auditions). This is more difficult to accommodate for lead roles and may be considered during casting. We cannot cast students with more than once-a-week conflicts. (We can work around the Basketball schedule and Boys Volleyball for many roles.) Attendance is mandatory at all weekend, tech & dress rehearsals and all shows. Absences beyond what is noted on the Conflict Sheet will be considered unexcused. Three unexcused absences may result in the loss or reduction of a role.
  • Academic & School Attendance Policy: Per Central School policy, to be eligible to participate in Rock of Ages students need to be passing all of their classes with a C or better, attend a complete day of school and participate in all classes. Special cases subject to individual review. 
  • Participants must be fully registered to receive audition materials and choose a timeslot. Access to materials (and audition sign-ups) will begin on November 16 at 5pm.
  • If you drop from the program before Jan 1, you will receive a full refund but incur a $25 fee.
  • If you drop from the program after Jan 1, the refund will be prorated and you will incur a $25 fee.
  • There will be NO REFUNDS after March 1.
