The Art of Yoga Project Model: Trauma-informed Mindfulness for Marginalized Youth
Friday, March 1, 2024: 9 am - 6 pm
PROGRAM FEE: $250 Early Bird: $200 (until January 8, 2024)
The Art of Yoga Project offers trauma-informed and strength-based yoga and creative expression programming to marginalized youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our training program is designed for yoga teachers, school teachers, and therapists— but it is open to anyone who wants to expand their skillset in working with youth who have experienced trauma. In this training you will learn:
- The Art of Yoga Project’s model of gender-responsive, strength-based, culturally-sensitive, and trauma-informed mindfulness and creative expression programming;
- The neuroscience of developmental trauma and sequential intervention informed by the Child Trauma Academy’s Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics, which can be adapted to any type of therapeutic programming for youth;
- How the teen brain functions, along with issues facing teens who have experienced trauma, including how maladaptive behaviors manifest in youth (e.g., substance abuse, sex trafficking, and mental health disorders); and
- Best practices for teaching mindfulness to this specialized population, including how to effectively manage behavioral problems and other classroom challenges.
REGISTRATION CLOSES FEB 18, 2024 AND THE FEE IS NON-REFUNDABLE
