While the skin is hydrophilic and lipophilic, the fluid substrate contained in the skin can be quite reactive to minerals found in the water as evidenced by sensitivity to hard water.

But at the same time, such minerals found in these waters  can also be therapeutic when used in a healing fashion, such as mineral baths/soaks and hot springs.

Subsequently, exposure to these minerals (such as magnesium, zinc, copper, iron, calcium) can be absorbed into the deeper tissues, including the sinews, blood vessels, connective tissues, and bones to treat a host of issues impacting the surface anatomy.

Crushed into fine particles and mixed with the proper medium of penetrating into the skin and tissues, certain stones can have notable and, at times, profound healing on the bodymindspirit continuum.

This course will examine the healing applications of topical treatments created from Stone Medicine.
