Meeting Information

Our next Teen Services Interest Group Meeting will take place online on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, from 10:00 - 11:00 am.

It's an unfortunate reality that teenagers are often automatically assumed to be troublemakers and ne'er-do-wells, causing adults to treat them more harshly and make them feel unwelcome. This prejudice often winds up making teens feel that the library isn't a place for them, but as we all know, libraries are for everyone.

At this meeting of the Teen Services Interest Group, we'll discuss strategies to help mitigate the prejudice and help teenaged patrons feel welcome in libraries.

Interest Group Facilitator:  Josiah Cook

Josiah Cook is the Teen Specialist at the Live Oak branch of the Suwannee River Regional Library System. He grew up in libraries and spent his early years attending every program he could and serving as a teen volunteer on a regular basis. Now, he’s flipped things around and is the one running the teen programs at that same library. He takes pride in providing quality, memorable experiences for his patrons and wants to help others do the same.
