Disability Awareness Day at the State Capitol gives people with disabilities and advocates a chance to connect with decision-makers who can preserve or expand services that make a critical difference in the lives of Mississippians with disabilities. Each year approximately 25 organizations and approximately 100-200 people participate in this event hosted annually by the Coalition for Citizens with Disabilities. This year, our goal is to have participant visits to all state senators and representatives and/or their staff.
Disability Awareness Day not only helps to educate policy makers about the issues affecting our community, but also shows solidarity within the disability community. What you can do to help make the event a success:
There is no charge to attend but we ask that you register so we will have an idea of how many people to expect.
