The Diocese of Gary offers free NFP classes starting on the 3rd Monday of the month at 6 PM. A full course consists of 3 classes, each about 1 1/2 hours long, about a month apart, though the classes can be scheduled closer if needed. Two different methods are offered. Each can be used to either postpone or achieve a pregnancy.
Registration is required.
Class Type
Sympto-Thermo
This method utilizes 3 signs of fertility (mucus, temperature, and cervix), crosschecking and bringing them together to determine fertile and non-fertile times of a woman's cycle. The class also incorporates the theology behind using NFP, and the benefits to one's health, marriage, and soul.
FEMM-Fertility Education and Medical Management
The FEMM method looks at the hormonal effects on cervical mucus to determine fertile and non-fertile times along with LH hormonal testing. This method also includes the parameters of a healthy cycle, how it impacts overall health, and when medical intervention is warranted.
