WEBINAR
1 hour ethics applied for

Cases involving pro se parties are often challenging. Courts must hold unrepresented parties to the same standard as attorneys. But because courts prefer the resolution of cases on their merits, attorneys and judges must also be flexible. Defense lawyers must balance their duty to zealously represent their client with their duty of fairness to the opposing party and the ethical rules regarding dealing with unrepresented parties.

Judge Sweeney and Magistrate Judge Braswell will discuss the rules, best practices, and expectations of the court when litigating against a pro se plaintiff.

Billy-George Hertzke will moderate a discussion with Judge Sweeney and Judge Braswell that will teach you what you should and should not do, both from an ethical and practical standpoint, when the plaintiff is acting pro se.
