Exploring Equity and Inclusion Through Educational Autobiography

We all have experiences of feeling included and excluded in teaching and learning settings. These experiences--good and bad--can shape our convictions about the types of learning environments we want to create and the experiences we want for our learners. We can use educational autobiography, or stories about our own educational experiences, to gain perspective about our past relationship to learning, teachers, and institutions, which we can share with our students. Such sharing can deepen students' sense of belonging in our classrooms. In this workshop, we will reflect on the ways in which our past learning experiences influence our beliefs and values as educators.
