One Love Escalation Workshop
This workshop is designed to increase protective factors in intimate partner relationships and can be attended by anyone single, in a relationship, or married of any age. Domestic violence is one of the highest reported destructive behaviors in the Navy. Did you know that nationwide, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men will be in a violent relationship at least once in their lifetime? To combat this problem and increase our Sailors' resilience, Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMPACFLT) has teamed up with the One Love Foundation, OPNAV N17, and Commander, Naval Installations Command (CNIC) to support One Love Escalation Workshops when requested by a command. The workshop also addresses issues of sexual assault, underage drinking, cyberbullying, and the importance of early intervention. The workshop is a 90-minute, face-to-face, film-based experience where participants will be educated about the warning signs of an abusive relationship, creating a safe zone for discussing an all-too-common problem. The workshop is consistently cited as "relatable" and "eye-opening" by its participants.
