Program Description:

BRIEF I: Foundations is the complete introduction to solution-focused coaching that provides a comprehensive overview of the solution-focused principles, tools and applications.  Throughout the 3-day module, participants will experience the positive impact of brief, solution-building interventions first hand, and learn how to have solution building conversations in both personal and professional settings. BRIEF I is an excellent module for both beginners as well as those who want a comprehensive refresher on solution-focused coaching.

BRIEF II: Intermediate builds on the foundational materials presented in the first module and goes one step further to closely examine the solution-building language as well as the co-construction of solutions. The primary focus of this 3-day module is to re-sensitize practitioners to become acutely aware of embedded presuppositions in their coaching language through microanalysis, peer review and case consultations. Highly recommended as a preparatory module for the Coaching Master Class, BRIEF II is an essential step in training your intuition as a solution-focused coach.

Independent Project is designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each participant.  In this module, participants will have the opportunity to pursue a topic of their interest in in-depth research, to design solution-focused activities or workshops, or to explore how to apply solution-focused approach in personally meaningful contexts. Reflective team exercises, peer coaching and mentorship will be offered to assist participants with their projects.

BRIEF III: Advanced explores how we can integrate solution-focused mindset in everyday work environments. If you've ever wondered how to maintain a non-expert stance when you are in a position of authority or responsibility, this is for you. This advanced module presents the solution-focused approach as a pedagogical framework for supervision and mentorship for those in management roles in professional settings as well as those who are seeking to become a supervisors or mentors-coaches in coach training.

BRIEF IV: Masterclass is a mandatory module for the certificate in solution-focused coaching. Each participant will present a coaching case, either as live-coaching or in video format, along with a reflective analysis report for peer review and masterclass-style coaching. This highly participatory process promotes reflective evaluation methods of solution-focused approaches, and engages all participants as mentor-coaches throughout the process.

BRIEF Train-the-Trainer is designed for participants who have completed the certificate in solution-focused counselling / coaching.  In this intensive 3-day workshop, participants will engage in dynamic discussions about how to create relevant content without prescribing a fixed agenda, how to utilize participant questions as effective learning tools, and how to honour participants as experts in their own learning process. Each participant in this workshop will design their own training materials using the solution-focused approach as the training methodology and present the material at the BRIEF Symposium on July 26th. Registration for this workshop includes the pass to the symposium.

BRIEF Symposium is the showcase of solution-focused training workshops and presentations, led by BriefFest participants. As an attendee, you will be able to participate in a wide variety of solution-focused discussions and workshops, including Open Space.  Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to meet other solution-focused practitioners and witness some of the latest developments in solution-building. Admission to the symposium is open to the public.
