Help Save the Historic 1750 Courthouse 

The Isle of Wight-Smithfield-Windsor Chamber of Commerce 
presents a fund-raising reception on 
Tuesday, September 30, 2014
for the urgent restoration of the
Historic 1750 Courthouse
  in the heart of downtown Smithfield.

The event will be held on the Courthouse grounds at
130 Main Street, Smithfield  
from
5:30 pm until 7:00 pm.

This event is open to members and non-members and offers an opportunity for area residents and business professionals to network and enjoy good conversation and refreshments.

One of Smithfield and Isle of Wight County's most historic and visible landmarks, the historic 1750 Courthouse in the heart of downtown Smithfield, is in urgent need of substantial restoration, due to water damage. Historic Smithfield Inc., non-profit conservator of the courthouse, needs to raise nearly $200,000 for damage repair and drainage improvements to protect the classic brick structure. The fund-raising effort is off to a great start, but is far from complete.
The Chamber of Commerce supports this important project, and will hold this fund-raising reception on Tuesday, September 30, 5:30 to 7pm, on the grounds of the courthouse. Beverages and light hors d'oeuvres will be provided. Admission is free, and all are welcome, but we encourage you to come and make a financial donation toward the preservation of this irreplaceable local landmark.
