Regulation Focused Psychotherapy is a manualized, psychodynamic, play therapy for children with externalizing problems, derived from the idea that all behavior has meaning and that some children engage in disruptive behaviors as a way to avoid experiencing painful or threatening emotions. We present the RFP protocol, its roots, and a current RCT.
