Broadening our Scope: Psychoanalytic Insights for Transforming Malignant Cultural Attitudes

This presentation attempts to synthesize the cultural anthropologist Pierre Bourdieu’s theory on culture or habitus with Freud’s ideas on culture, the “third” unconscious, and the ego to suggest a conception of culture that is compatible with psychoanalytic discoveries and models of the mind.
