The Shirley Verrett Award recognizes a U-M faculty member whose work has supported the success of women in creative fields who come from diverse cultural and racial backgrounds. The Award Recipient for 2016 is George Shirley, Joseph Edgar Maddy Distinguished University Emeritus Professor of Voice at the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance.
