The Music Series of The Congregational Church of Burlington Presents:

The Rosenthals

Coming to the Congregational Church of Burlington on Sunday, May 22nd @ 3 pm, The Rosenthals and their musical talents!

A father-son duo blending bluegrass, jazz and more!  The two combine elements of bluegrass, folk and jazz into a seamless mix, with the unusual instrumentation of banjo, trumpet and plenty of vocal harmonies.

Phil Rosenthal, banjo and guitar, is former lead singer and guitarist in the legendary Seldom Scene.  His compositions have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe, Nick Cave and others.

Daniel, trumpet, tours with the Either Orchestra and the Daniel Rosenthal Quintet.  The Rosenthals’ recently-released debut CD, “Fly Away”, is winning rave reviews.

The Rosenthals draw their repertoire from their own original works, as well as new arrangements of traditional American folk tunes.

The group received reviews in Bluegrass Unlimited, The Boston Globe, Time Out New York, the New Haven Register and many other respected publications.  Some examples:

“They’re the real deal. With their unique vibrancy and freshness they don’t sound old-timey, but just plain timeless.” - Owen McNally, Hartford Courant

“A delightful organic brew wafting out from the hippest back porch around.” - Midwest Record

“Wonderfully warm and organic sound... 5 stars.” - Critical Jazz

“The album radiates with a gentleness and purity. ..Unique and inventive.” - Sing Out! Magazine
