2016 Southern New England Cruise

Friday, June 24th – Saturday July 9th

Following the success of last year’s event, we are once again offering a Southern New England Cruise through the beautiful scenery, diverse wildlife and historic harbors of New England. Enjoy the social gatherings with fellow cruisers or take advantage and cruise solo to particular favorite destinations along the way.

Our cruise this year will commence in Newport, Rhode Island which surely needs no introduction as the East Coast’s premier sailing destination and we will sail into Boston Harbor to enjoy the magnificent July 4th celebrations on the Esplanade with the Boston Pops. The cruise will conclude in Gloucester, which will provide an excellent departure point for those boats heading north to Maine, Nova Scotia or beyond.

Itinerary (subject to change!)

We have developed a cruise itinerary that will allow participants to sail at their own pace, including some or all of the following destinations and events along the way:

Friday June 24th

Anchor or take a mooring in Newport Harbor and join us at Brick Alley Pub for reception dinner and outline of the cruise plans.

Tuesday June 28th

Pot-Luck Cookout at Lee and Elizabeth's house in Oak Bluff's

Wednesday June 29th

Rendezvous at Marion's Beverly Yacht Club

Saturday, July 2nd

Dinner in distinctive Provincetown at the tip of Cape Cod

Monday, July 4th

Anchor or take a mooring right in the heart of Boston Harbor and enjoy the Boston Pops and Fireworks on the Esplanade alongside the Charles River

Wednesday July 6th

Pot Luck in Marblehead

Saturday July 9th

Final Dinner in Gloucester

We will hold daily VHF and SSB nets to keep everyone informed throughout the cruise as to yacht locations, weather as well as updates on all planned and impromptu events.

The entry fee is just $50 per boat – bring as many crew as you like – and will include full information about each location, anchorages and mooring opportunities, pilotage and attractions at each port of call – along with information of other harbors along the way. We are preparing a special ‘OCC 2016 Southern New England Cruise’ hat for the captain of each boat – and additional hats can be purchased for $17.50 each. (Note dinners/drinks and moorings are not included in the entry fee!)

The cruise is open to everyone – so if you know of anyone that might be interested (and especially those that could be cajoled into joining the OCC!), please encourage them to join us.
