NEFLIN 2017 Technology Conference (06/02/17)

KeynoteLeaning into the Future: Best Practices for Keeping Up with Emerging Technologies  with Nicole Hennig

If you’re like most people, you feel stressed out about keeping up with the deluge of information about new technologies.

In this talk we’ll look at some examples of how technology is moving forward exponentially (from both utopian and dystopian viewpoints). Then we’ll focus on:

  • How not to fear rapid change
  • Looking at new technologies with fresh eyes (instead of viewing through lenses of the past)
  • How to understand the needs of users (instead of asking them what they want)
  • Ways to automate your information gathering process
  • Why small experiments work & how to evaluate results
  • Persuading decision-makers and funders
  • Defining staff positions related to emerging technologies
  • Why you don’t need to be able to predict the future

And finally we’ll help reduce the stress of rapid change by focusing on a step-by-step process that you can use no matter which new technologies are on the horizon.
