SHIP Homecoming 2013! Plan to gather your family and friends and return to Shippensburg to celebrate Homecoming Weekend on October 25 and 26. We have some great activities planned that include some new events, as well as the return of favorites! Save the date, send in your RSVP, and make plans to celebrate Homecoming 2013 at SHIP.

Let's get the weekend started with the Athletic Hall of Fame Luncheon and a Downtown SHIP Party at the University Grille on Friday night. Door prizes will be announced at 10pm. And, don’t miss the Homecoming Spirit Rally at 7pm in ShipRec with performances by the Red Raider Marching Band and Dance Troupe. Night owl? Join the APB Multicultural Affairs Committee (MAC) for a dance party in the CUB MPR from 10pm – 2am. 

Then on Saturday get ready for the big game and enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast in the CUB, your 20% alumni discount in the University Store (see paper brochure or on-line brochure for coupon and details), and take a tour through the Blast from the Past artifact exhibit in the CUB (Thurs. – Sat.).

Activities on Saturday include: 

  • 6th Annual SU Homecoming Service Project
    Volunteer at the King’s Kettle Food Pantry, 30 N. Fayette St. at 9am.
  • 34th Annual SU Army ROTC 5K or 10K Run
    Race steps off at Heiges Field House. 10K starts at 9am, 5K at 9:15am. Proceeds support Azalea Charities Run for Wounded Warriors and SU ROTC Battalion.
  • 4th Annual Grove College of Business Reunion, Grove Hall Forum – 9:30am
    Reconnect with special people from your past life as a business student and meet current faculty and staff for light refreshments.
  • Very Busy People Cooking Series, Reisner Hall – 10 – 11am
    If you are short on time but want to prepare healthy meals that taste great, then this class is for you! There will be demonstrations, food sampling, and a discussion on how to prepare delicious meals for your family (or yourself!) in 30 minutes or less.
  • Wine Tasting 101, Reisner Hall – 11:45am – 12:45pm
    Look, smell, taste. Starting with your basic senses you will learn how to taste these unique wines like the pros. Structured for the beginner, straightforward information is presented in a casual atmosphere. Topics include how to read a wine label, understanding wine classification, pairing foods with wine, and simple wine terminology.
  • MSA Greek Yard Show, Free Performance at 7pm, CUB SHIP Amphitheater
  • MAC Homecoming Weekend Party, CUB MPR, 10pm – 2am

Saturday Game Day Highlights

GAME DAY INFO: It’s a “RED OUT
Receive your free SU t-shirt at the stadium entrance (limited quantities). Support the Red Raiders as they face West Chester. Kick-off at 1pm. Tickets are available at the gate, $8/adult; $3/school-age child.

Tailgate Party
Join us on campus behind Seth Grove Stadium for Tailgating. The Tailgate party runs 10am - 4pm in the FAN ZONE with inflatables for the kids, DJ to play the latest tunes and announce door prizes, and a tailgate lunch that will be available for purchase $5/adult, children 12 and under free.

Marching Band Alumni BBQ
Join the 2013 SU Marching Band and fellow alumni for a BBQ buffet in the Tuscarora Room of Reisner Dining Hall at 11am. BBQ tickets are $10, children under 5 free. Want to perform with the band? Contact Owen Ecker at oe4471@ship.edu for information.

President’s Postgame Supper
Interim President Jody Harpster and his wife Leslie invite you and your family to a casual picnic supper on the lawn of the Martin House immediately following the football game. Enjoy your favorites from the past- including chicken corn soup, harvest vegetable soup, cornbread, Ship S’mores, gingerbread cupcakes, and pecan pie-while catching up with fellow alumni and friends! Postgame supper is complimentary, tickets are required. Rain location: Tuscarora Room, Reisner Dining Hall.
