FEMA COVID-19 Public Assistance funding for Private Nonprofit Organizations

Score members in the private nonprofit sector can benefit from learning about FEMA's involvement in the COVID-19 pandemic response. Certain private nonprofits are eligible to participate in FEMA's grant program, Public Assistance (PA).

Examples include educational facilities, emergency or medical facilities, custodial care facilities, community centers, homeless shelters, senior citizen centers, low income housing, food services for the needy, drug treatment centers, and adult and child day cares. PA funds 75% of eligible expenses such as facility disinfection costs, PPE, and emergency protective measures. This talk will cover:
- How private nonprofits determine if they are eligible
- Specifically how to sign up for the program (Do it today, it's easy!)
- How to identify eligible costs for reimbursement
- How to document and track incurred costs
- Where to turn when you need support
Note- Only certain nonprofit organizations are eligible under this program. Ineligible facilities include job counseling and training centers, facilities for advocacy groups not directly providing health services, housing(other than low income), conference facilities and facilities maintained by property owner's associations.
Presenter: Kelly Rosofsky: 10 years of FEMA recovery experience as both a former FEMA disaster employee and as a technical contractor to FEMA through my current firm. I've responded to 9 disasters and have represented tribes, states, local governments and nonprofits through the lengthy FEMA process. I've assisted outside of disasters as well with mitigation planning and understand a number of FEMA and other federal funding programs and how they interplay.
