Adaptive Planning for Flooding and Coastal Change in Virginia:

Legal and Policy Issues for Local Government

You are invited to attend:

The Virginia Coastal Policy Clinic (VCPC) at William & Mary Law School, the Commonwealth of Virginia, Virginia Environmental Endowment, and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) are pleased to host a forum for local governments and coastal stakeholders to identify the specific issues they have encountered in dealing with coastal flooding so that state agencies, the General Assembly, VIMS, and VCPC can better assist in efforts to manage the problem. The conference will identify the legal issues created by recurrent flooding and sea level rise and what actions may be needed on a local and state level to begin addressing them.  Conference attendees will have the opportunity to respond to and inform a draft set of legislative proposals designed for the 2014 General Assembly.

VCPC is currently applying for CM and CLE credits to be available for participants.

Contact information:  Shana Jones, Director, VCPCscjones@wm.edu                       Molly Mitchell, Center for Coastal Resources Management, VIMS -- molly@vims.edu

Unfortunately, we had to cap participants at 230, and we already have a waiting list.  If you are no longer able to attend please email dawnf@vims.edu so we may open your space for another.
