Third Annual West Virginia Estate Planning Institute

November 11th-12th, 2022 at the

West Virginia University College of Law

Hosted by The West Virginia Bar Association, the West Virginia State Bar Probate Committee, and the WVU College of Law.

The Third Annual West Virginia Estate Planning Institute is the premier event you do not want to miss. Designed for accountants, attorneys, and financial planners, participants will hear from high-quality speakers and will network with other estate planning industry experts. 

This year's featured speaker is nationally-recognized estate planning expert, Howard M. Zaritsky, J.D., LL.M., who will be presenting Hot Topics in Estate Planning. Mr. Zaritsky's presentation focuses on recent tax and related developments affecting estate planning. Among the topics you should expect to see discussed are the use of the recent IRS procedure for late portability elections, problems with foreign financial accounts, recent cases regarding the charitable deduction for gifts of conservation easements, avoiding problems with Grantor Retained Annuity Trusts, recent and pending cases on the taxation of life insurance, proposed regulations on estate tax deductions for debts and expenses that will not be paid within the first three years, defined value gifts, and many more. Read more about Mr. Zaritsky here.

This CLE schedule will be planned around the home WVU football game against the Oklahoma Sooners, in what could be their final matchup. Paid registrants for the CLE will receive a link to purchase football game tickets and red lot passes for this game only. A link will be sent to registrants for attendees to purchase football tickets and red lot parking passes.  This link may ONLY be used by confirmed registrants for the WV Bar Association’s CLE.  Please do not share this link outside of your registration.  Misuse of the link will result in cancellation of the parking pass, football tickets, and CLE registration.  **Please note that if you are attending the CLE in-person on Saturday, you will need to purchase a parking pass in order to park in the Red Lot on Saturday.  Upon registration for the CLE, you will receive a link to purchase the parking pass for $20+ fees.**
