For this meeting, we'll be discussing the topic, "Are we prepared for what the libraries of the future look like for rural libraries?" We'll talk about Makerspaces, outreach, storytime, etc., so come ready to share your experiences, ideas, and struggles!
Please Note: The Children's Services West Interest Group serves the library districts of Suwannee River Regional (Madison, Hamilton, and Suwannee Counties), Three Rivers Regional (Taylor, Lafayette, Dixie, and Gilchrist), New River (Baker, Union, and Bradford), Levy County, Alachua County, and Columbia County. However, any NEFLIN member is welcome to attend meetings of the Children's Services East group, as well.
I started out working in the Library System in 2002 at the Union County Public Library under Mary Brown. That is where I was able to really allow my imagination to grow. I went on to help write the CSLP Manual in 2004. Under unforeseen circumstances, I left the Library, but I continued working with and educating children and those that were incarcerated. Then I went back to the Library in 2011 at the Bradford County Public Library until the present day under Robert Perone, where I am currently the Youth Services Coordinator over the Children's Department. I am able to continue with old and new innovations on promoting reading to all those in Bradford County. Things I love about my job are my kiddos and their families and being able to have a personal and lasting impact on my kids and the community. When I am not at work I love spending time my daughter. My other hobbies are reading and watching shows like the Game of Thrones. I am very crafty so I love to build/make things out of cardboard.
