2014 CDT Study Classes 

Are you interested in furthering your professional education and providing better services to your clients? Then get CDT (Construction Documents Technologist) certified in the spring of 2014 with the support of Portland’s CSI Chapter. We offer classes with experienced instructors to help you understand the material needed to pass the exam in Apr.

CSI’s CDT certificate is a prerequisite to CSI’s advanced Certifications: Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA); Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) and Certified Construction Product Representative (CCPR).

Through CSI’s Certification Program, you can develop a conceptual understanding of the entire construction process, and concrete skills in:

• Construction documentation development and administration
• Specification writing and enforcement
• Product research and sourcing
• Communication with the design and contracting teams

The CDT exam (Construction Documents Technologist) is the foundation course for all construction individuals.  Studying for the exam will help you learn about Contractual Relationships, Use of Construction Documents and the Construction Process as a whole.  Advanced exams are available for a more in depth review of Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA); Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) and Certified Construction Product Representative (CCPR).

CSI professional credentials are evidence of proven knowledge, education, and experience with construction documents. Holding a certification demonstrates professional commitment, credibility & reliability to employers, colleagues, and clients.

Sessions:
The Portland CDT Prep Class will be taught at the offices of Ankrom Moisan Architects at 6720 SW Macadam Ave #100 Portland, OR 97219, on Thursday evenings from 6-8pm, beginning on January 23^rd, 2014.

CDT classes will start on January 23^rd, 2014 and will meet every Thursday for seven weeks at Ankrom Moisan Architects, unless weather or other circumstances warrant changes.

Cost:
The cost of the class does not include the exam registration or the Practice Guide. CDT Candidates are encouraged to obtain a copy & read the AIA-A201 General Conditions, the CDT Study Guide & Addendum from the CSI-Institute webpage, located under the “Certification/CDT/Exam Prep” tabs, and become familiar with the CDT exam requirements.

NOTE – the Study guide online now is NOT the one you will need in the Spring. Check back after January 1^st for the newest version. Classes will be taught by several local professionals (volunteers), with CCCA and CCS certifications. The course is based on CSI’s PDPG-Project Delivery Practice Guide, and will include seven (7) or eight (8) sessions. 

Exams:
Register direction with CSI for CDT, CCS, CCCA and CCPR exams, which will be offered during CSI National Exam Month (March 31 - April 26) at 400+ Thompson Prometric locations nationwide.

  CDT Scholarships are available to emerging professionals with the following guidelines

1. Must either be a CSI Member or willing to become a CSI Member
2. Be an emerging professional with less than 10 years of experience
3. Must make a one-year commitment to a CSI committee of your choice

Compensation included in the scholarship: (savings up to $585.00)

1. CSI membership fee (if needed) minus the first $100 (up to $140)
2. Cost of PDX Chapter CDT Class ($110)
3. Cost of Project Delivery Practice Guide and Study Workbook ($95.0)
4. Reimbursement of cost of exam upon passing (up to $240.00)
