3D Technology for the Built Environment

 

Technology has greatly changed the design and construction industry. The tools available to the project team to convey ideas, record existing conditions, and accurately install materials have changed the way we do business. This presentation will cover three of these new technologies: 3D Laser Scanning, Drone Technology, and Virtual Reality Applications, as they relate to actual construction projects. AIA CEU Available

About the Presenter, Paul Tice, CEO of ToPa 3D: Tice draws from over 20 years of experience in CAD platforms, 3D technologies, project management and connecting project teams. Tice has been published several times in LiDAR News Magazine on 3Dlaser scanning, BIM modeling, and has been featured in Oregon Business magazine, the Daily Journal of Commerce, and a variety of publications on his work with 3D laser scanning and modeling. Tice has become a voice in the industry with accomplishments ranging from winning the international "Be Inspired" award through Bentley Systems for Innovations with 3D laser scan technology and contributions to the digital preservation of our historic infrastructure for the Library of Congress. A native to Portland; Oregon, Tice has presented and taught workshops at trade conferences locally and throughout the country on the use of 3D scanning in the AEC and historical preservation industries.
