September Chapter Meeting: Building Tour Block 8L

Come get a behind the scenes construction tour of Block 8L, Ankrom Moisan's New Office in Old Town/China Town. This 6-story, mixed use building will house ground floor retail, U of O's new MBA and Sports Product Management programs, Ankrom's office space, and 65 residential units. The building will not include any onsite vehicle parking, but it will include 107 long term bicycle parking, and 10 short term bicycle spaces. 

Learning Objectives:

1. Identify the different sustainability features used in the design and construction of the building.
2. Compare how new construction can be blended into a historic district .
3. Detect the design solutions for transitioning a building from commercial space, to office space, to residential.
4. Observe the construction challenges of building in a confined site.

We will meet at the Japanese American Historical Plaza along the waterfront at the corner of NW Couch and Naito Parkway. Please arrive by 4:30pm. There will be brief presentation about the project followed by the construction tour. Closed Toe Shoes Required.
