Roofing 101: The Alphabet Soup of Roofing Types

This roofing session will be an overview of multi-ply and single-ply roofing systems that are being specified and installed locally in the Portland metro market. This 1 hour session will be a great opportunity to decipher the low-slope roofing “Alphabet Soup” of SBS, APP, TPO, EPDM, and PVC. We will discuss the strengths and limitations of each type of roofing and how they can be used to their full potential in your building.  We also learn about some of the basic roof components used in our local market such as insulation, fasteners, adhesives, and typical non-standard roofing assemblies. Bring your low-slope roofing questions and leave with a full stomach and plenty of answers.

Who Should Attend
Architectural Interns, MEP Engineers, Contractors, and anyone who would like a better understanding of what the basic roof types are and how they should be used. AIA CEU's Available!

The Full Roofing Series

We are doing a full 101, 201, and 301 roofing series. Our first class, Roofing 101, will focus on roofing basics, and is great for people just starting out in the industry who want to get more familiar with the different roofing types. Roofing 201 will be the intermediate level class for people specifying, detailing, and working with the different roofing types. The final class, Roofing 301, will be a chance to ask our panel of experts your tough questions about designing and specifying roofs.
