Bob Hugin

July 20 - Union County ELC

with

Republican Senate Candidate

Bob Hugin

Bob Hugin says he is running for United States Senate to ensure that opportunity is available for future generations growing up in every single community in New Jersey.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Mr. Hugin grew up in a diverse, hardworking neighborhood in Union City, Hudson County.  He was the first person in his family to attend college, earning a full scholarship to Princeton University. After graduation, Mr. Hugin joined the United States Marine Corps where he served as an active duty infantry officer from 1976 to 1983. Mr. Hugin participated in multiple deployments and was an instructor at the Landing Force Training Command, Atlantic.

As a Reserve Officer from 1983 to 1990, his assignments included commanding officer roles in Virginia and Battalion staff officer assignments in New York. Upon leaving active duty in 1983, he earned his MBA from the Darden School of Graduate Business Administration at the University of Virginia and in 1985, he joined J.P. Morgan, ultimately leading several businesses and rising to be a Managing Director.

Most recently Mr. Hugin spent the last 19 years as a leader in healthcare and vocal advocate for modernizing the American healthcare system, serving as Chairman and CEO of the Celgene Corporation and as a Trustee of the Atlantic Health System for the last decade. Under Mr. Hugin’s leadership and through the work of its employees, that company was transformed into one of New Jersey’s largest private sector employers – an innovative biotech company that is now known around the world for leading the fight against cancer and chronic disease.

Mr. Hugin volunteers his time serving on the Board of Trustees of Princeton University, the Darden Foundation at UVA, and Family Promise, a national non-profit network assisting homeless families. He also serves on the NJ-based think tank Garden State Initiative and is the President of the trustees of his church. Bob also previously served on the board of Choose New Jersey and as past Chairman of the Healthcare Institute of NJ.

At home Bob and his wife of thirty years, Kathy, are the proud parents of three children. Daughter Hilary and sons Robbie and Mac.

There is no better way to meet with your legislators, network with your colleagues, and learn about issues affecting your business than to attend your local ELC meetings.

The ELCs, established by NJBIA in 1959, are independent, local organizations representing all 21 counties. ELCs meet monthly for breakfast or lunch. These meetings take no longer than 90 minutes. At each meeting, legislators, cabinet members or local officials will discuss important issues pertinent to business. You will also receive a briefing from one of NJBIA's government affairs experts on legislative and regulatory issues affecting employers.

Take advantage of this opportunity to tell your legislators and other decision makers, such as the Governor, cabinet members and legislative leaders, how their decisions impact your business.
