Katherine C. (Kasey) Grier is director of the Museum Studies Program and professor in the Department of History, University of Delaware, where she also received her Ph.D. An expert on the history of everyday life in the U.S. in the long 19^th century, Kasey Grier turned her attention to the history of animal-human interaction several decades ago. The result was Pets in America: A History (2006), the first book to examine how past Americans lived with animals in their homes.   

Ideas about animals as family members have continued to evolve throughout history. Join Kasey as she examines the roles pets have played in the 19th and 20th centuries.
