Reliability - Making Data Tell a Story & Making that Story a Good One
Abstract: Our water/waste water system infrastructure is going through major changes. While we work hard to stay ahead of growth with the construction of new infrastructure assets, our existing systems are aging. We live in a time where our infrastructure is aging at a rate that exceeds our ability to execute replacement and rehabilitation projects. To manage this issue, our water utilities need to shift from a “capital program-centered” to a “reliability-centered” utility. During this workshop, we will explore the tools to help make this shift and dive deeper into leveraging data to redirect our efforts into more productive maintenance, condition assessment and capital activities. Finally we will go through some live demonstrations of how attendees can actually do this in their utility leveraging the experience of several reliability engineers in the PNW.
Outline:
1st Hour: Overview of why we need to Shifting from Capital to Reliability based management program
What is data analytics?
How can we leverage it?
2nd Hour: What are your fellow utilities doing?
Case study: Portland BES
Case study: Tacoma Water
3rd Hour: Demonstration: How to take these learnings and apply them at your organization
Speakers: Gary Fox, Brittany Downing, Steven Dutschke
