Excel Tips and Tricks
Put magic to work for you. This one-hour session will introduce you to Excel features and techniques you can use every day to work smarter and get more done.
This live program will explain and demonstrate how to:
- Create custom number formats so the value 3,785,132 displays as $3.79 M, while the exact amount is used for calculations;
- Use the AutoFill feature to enter a custom series by dragging the mouse, including how to create a date series that lists weekdays only;
- Use text formulas and functions to manipulate character strings, for example to combine first and last names from separate cells into a single entry;
- Enter functions in equations the smart way;
- Use Conditional Formatting to automatically highlight desired data on a worksheet;
- Avoid errors, and track them down when they occur; and
- Enter dates and times so they will calculate correctly in formulas.
And, of course, every good magic show includes a few surprises.
There will be plenty of time for questions, so come prepared.
Presenter: Gerald A. Rosenthal, is the founder of ComputerImages, a Boston-based software training and consulting firm, and has been using Excel since the program debuted as Macintosh only software in 1985.
