IFMA San Diego 10/11 Luncheon - Antarctic Mike

In Jan 2006, Mike became one of nine people to have run a marathon on the Antarctic continent; 11 months later he returned to Antarctica to become the first American to complete the Antarctic Ultra Marathon, a grueling 100km (62.1 miles). Since then Mike has completed many other winter marathons in the coldest and harshest climates on earth. OK, you’re thinking: WHY? Surprisingly, it has very little to do with cold weather or sports. Rather, it’s about the disciplines necessary to be successful in difficult situations. Leaders today face the same challenges as those who first conquered Antarctica. The question is this: Are we ready?

Leading at 90 Below Zero is all about one thing: Making sure that leaders understand how to help their teams be ready to face any conditions and still thrive. Mike will illustrate from Polar history stories the importance of showcasing your companies opportunity, increasing your ability to get the best people for the job, how to lead them effectively, and conditioning and rewarding them so that they have the ability and desire to complete the expedition.

Our Speaker:
Mike Pierce, better known as Antarctic Mike, works with organizations that want to find, engage and keep the best performing people. Mike’s background professionally started in the recruiting business in 1997, working specifically to show managers and leaders exactly how to identify and recruit the best people. He now speaks across the US and Canada to executive teams, organizations, associations and sales teams about how to lead people so they are fully engaged in what they do. Mike holds his BA from the University of Colorado, Boulder in Marketing and resides in Encinitas, CA with his wife Angela.

San Diego Chapter Members - complimentary
Prospective Facility Members (Facility Managers Only - First time only) - complimentary
Biocom Members - complimentary for the first five Biocom Members
Colleagues & Non Members (Vendors & Suppliers) - $50 per person

Non Member Fee: Membership, in IFMA and the San Diego Chapter, is on an individual basis (not by company). Therefore, to be considered a member and not charged to attend meeting/events, you (individually) have to be listed in the chapter membership records. These records are provided to us by IFMA Headquarters. Any discrepancies or changes must be resolved with the Membership Department at IFMA. Please contact them at 713-623-4362 or ifma@ifma.org

Cancellations: Due to rising catering costs, cancellations MUST be received a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the event to receive a full refund. Those making a reservation, but not attending the event/meeting (“No shows”) will be charged a $50 No-Show fee.

Please note:

Only IFMA San Diego Chapter Members may register on a complimentary basis. Please remember that membership is on a individual basis and NOT by company. Registrations are not transferrable to other colleagues in the same company.
Colleagues of chapter members (unless they are a FM and this is their first chapter meeting) must register as a non member and will be charged the non member fee.
All registrations are checked against the current IFMA San Diego Chapter Member roster. Those registerd mistakenly as chapter members will be charged accordingly.
If a IFMA San Diego member registers a guest and that guest does not attend, the member will be charged the $50 No-show fee for their guest.
Because of hotel and planning requirements, no registrations will be taken after the deadline. Walkins may be accessed a $50 late registration fee.
Members who can not attend are not allowed to transfer their complimentary lunch to a non-member, even if it is someone from their own organization.
