A NEW VISION FOR THE BIRDS DIRECTIVE & THE POSITIVE ROLE OF HUNTING

The EU Birds Directive came into effect 35 years ago. To mark this anniversary FACE, in collaboration with the European Commission DG Environment, will hold a Conference in Brussels on 23 September 2014, inaugurated by Janez Potocnik, European Commissioner for the Environment.

FACE has been instrumental in the implementation of the directive in national legislation providing European hunters extensive knowledge and expertise on legal challenges and opportunities. 35 years of experience together with the commitment of FACE in favour of birds conservation constitute the premises for a new vision for the Birds Directive, fully acknowledging the positive role of hunting.

On the same occasion 10 years of the BirdLife International / FACE Agreement signed in 2004 will also be marked.

This conference is aimed at Government officials, civil servants, environmental stakeholders, conservationists and all those wishing to gain a better understanding of the implementation status of the Birds Directive 35 years after on.
