Employment Law 101 

This training is part of our Supervisory Certificate Series and is open for individual registrations.

Many supervisors do not understand how their decisions about employee issues can create liability, not only for the agency but also for themselves personally.  This program will give supervisors basic information about employment law; plus skills and strategies for managing agency staff that can help to avoid employment litigation.

This is a great program for new supervisors learning the material, and seasoned supervisors needing a refresher!

Amelia Holstrom: Amelia, a Partner at Skoler, Abbott, & Presser P.C., is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on litigation avoidance, employment litigation, and labor law and relations. Amelia’s legal and professional skills, and community involvement have been recognized many times by outside organizations. Amelia was selected by BusinessWest as a 40 Under Forty honoree. She was also awarded the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Community Service Award and named as an Up & Coming Lawyer Honoree by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly for its Excellence in the Law Event. She was recently selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star, an exclusive list recognizing no more than 2.5 percent of lawyers in Massachusetts.

Erica Flores: Erica has represented clients big and small, in cases big and small, in places big and small. But after moving to Western Massachusetts with her wife in 2013, she has had the privilege of living and working among the many businesses she advises and defends every day. Erica has successfully defended Massachusetts employers in single-plaintiff and class action discrimination, harassment and retaliation litigation, wage and hour disputes, and whistleblower and contract matters before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. She also regularly advises clients on day-to-day employment issues, including employment policies, internal investigations and discipline, and litigation avoidance. Erica is a regular contributor to the Massachusetts Employment Law Letter and a member of the Board of Directors of the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.
