Technology and Innovation

As the world changes, the ability to adapt as an organization becomes more and more essential. In this program you will learn to make strategic technological decisions for your organization, rethink existing programs and structures, and make changes that advance your organization forward.

In the first half of this interactive workshop the Innovation Accelerator team will walk you through a premortem exercise giving you and your peers the tools needed to plan for the future and figure out how to identify and prevent problems; all with the intention of helping your organization survive and succeed well into the future. Then spend the afternoon in a deep dive into tech advances on the horizon, how they can support your work, and the role of executive and senior leadership in technological decision making that impacts the organization.

Presented by:

Paul Silva and Kelly Minton of Innovation Accelerator (IA)

Delcie Bean, of Paragus IT

Paul Silva, IA Founder and Lead Instructor, is a lifelong entrepreneur and educator passionate about helping people and teams create economic prosperity through innovation. During his career he has inspired thousands of people to innovate, helped hundreds of startups launch, and proudly watched as those businesses significantly increased local employment rates.

Kelly Minton, IA Co-Founder and Director of Operations, brings experience from the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. She has worked as a marketing associate in the corporate world, launched two startups and has worked in nonprofit advancement. She is well versed in traditional fundraising and board governance.

Delcie Bean started the company that became Paragus when he was 13 years old. As Paragus has become one of the most successful, fastest-growing IT firms in the region and has been named in INC 5000 for Fastest Businesses in the country. Paragus has a unique Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) structure that puts ownership of 40% of the company in the hands of its 50-plus employees. This gives staff a direct stake in the company and deepens their commitment to client service and growth. In addition, Delcie continues to donate 7% of Paragus’ annual profits to charitable causes. Delcie also created Tech Foundry, an educational nonprofit designed to address the need for a skilled IT workforce in the region by providing in-depth training for promising inner city students.
