Join parents, educators, elected officials, and community members for the 39th annual PTA Advocacy Day for Education:  School Climate, Student Well Being and the Role of Parents, hosted by the San Ramon Valley Council of PTAs, Las Trampas Creek Council of PTAs, and Pleasanton PTA Council.  We will explore topics related to school climate and student socio-emotional well being, including stress and anxiety, mental health, and suicide prevention.

The tentative agenda includes:

Mental Health and Social-Emotional Learning, with Shareen Walters, CAPTA VP Health & Community Concerns

Focus on One School District's Efforts, with MaryAnn Frates, SRVUSD SELPA Executive Director

Superintendent's Panel, with superintendents from Acalanes, Lafayette, Moraga, Pleasanton, San Ramon Valley, Alameda County and Contra Costa County Offices of Ed.

Lunch and Lunch & Learn optional discussion on using Social Media for Advocacy


Contra Costa County Mental Health Commission and County Level Initiatives, with Candace Anderson, CCC Supervisor, District 2

Culture to Culture Program, with Chia-Chia Chien, founder of Culture to Culture Foundation

A Parent Perspective, with Graham Wiseman, National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Contra Costa County
